The plate and frame filter press is a machine used in chemical dehydration. Although the plate and frame filter press is generally operated intermittently, the investment in infrastructure equipment is large, and the filtration capacity is also low, it has a large filtration driving force, a high solid content of the filter cake, a clear filtrate, a high solid recovery rate, and a conditioning drug. The advantages of low consumption, etc., are still widely used in some small sewage plants.

After being concentrated and digested, the sludge still has a moisture content of about 95%-97%, and the volume is still large. Sludge dewatering can further remove void water and capillary water in the sludge and reduce its volume. After dehydration treatment, the moisture content of the sludge can be reduced to 70%~80%, and its volume is 1/10~1/4 of the original volume, which is conducive to subsequent transportation and treatment. The sludge mechanical dehydration methods include filtration dehydration, centrifugal dehydration, and press-type dehydration. Filtration dehydration also includes vacuum filtration and pressure filtration; centrifugal dehydration uses a centrifuge for dehydration; press-type dehydration uses a screw press or a roller press for dehydration . Commonly used are pressure filtration and centrifugal dehydration methods. Sludge filtration and dehydration uses the pressure difference between the two sides of the filter medium as the driving force, so that the sludge water is forced to pass through the filter medium to form a filtrate, and the solid particles are trapped on the medium to form a filter cake, thereby achieving the purpose of sludge dehydration.
